Working the Primaries

February 9th, 2008 by Newsboy (Tom) · 1 Comment ·

Not since college days has the enthusiasm of an election whelmed me as did the recent U. S. primaries. Some of my Kiwanis pals and I worked at a polling place.

We started at 6 a.m. to get ready and closed by 9:30 at night.

Primaries can be a bit slow at times.

ON THAT LONG DAY…we had about 180 voters all day, most of them in the early evening. Democracy is expensive the way we run it. Six of us earned $100 each for our Kiwanis Club.
