This was my first foray into GoPro videos. It took half a day and many, many tries to get even a few shots. Boy and His Dog from Steve McClelland on Vimeo.
Hike in tunnel takes dark turn
May 27th, 2014 · Leave a Comment
Our normal hike near the cabin took a dark turn this memorial weekend. In fact it took several. We decided to walk into the western entrance to the now trackless Central Pacific Railway snow sheds. Just dark enough to be eerie, they are a gathering place for local graffiti artists and the walls are covered with constantly-changing street art. I could walk in here all day, but the group decided to turn back before long. But not before I could capture a few bits of local graffiti.

Blue sunset at Serene Lakes

I may have missed the light by just a few minutes, but it’s rare that the sky and lake are that blue after the sun has already set. I just loved the colors of this one–one of many scenery shots that I have taken from this exact location.

On my ride today

When you’re as near to the Heaven’s as Donner Summit, it’s hard to ignore nature’s beauty, but there were just too many incredible things to see on my Independence Day ride from the cabin. So I yanked the phone out and captured the moments whenever I could.

A few of the kids brought friends up which brought our numbers to

New Year’s eve brings family, sledding fun to cabin
January 7th, 2013 · Leave a Comment
New Year’s eve 2012 at the cabin was a full house, possibly setting a new record for visitors, but certainly the most family member’s we’ve had at once. Along with the usual McClellands and Wassermanns, Beth and Robert Rust were up to bring in the new year with Matt home from Turkey with his newish wife, Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn’s family joined us too, bringing the number to

What’s going on here? Steve shows what he’d look like with long blonde hair with Kianna Blake at the cabin on Memorial Day weekend. This is a teaser of the upcoming video The Shave 2 the sequel to the much acclaimed home movie of Emily and Patrick shaving daddy’s beard. Emily did the dirty work this time and we took over 200 photos along the way.

Our Soda Springs Cabin in the snow
April 3rd, 2011 · Leave a Comment
We saw near-record snowfall this year, including a HUGE storm in March. This shot was taken from the top of the snow drifts across the street from our three-story cabin. I tied an orange ribbon around the tree on the right to show how high the snow was.
