Patrick and Emily entered their latest Pinewood Derby cars and finished near the back of the pack. They may have finished dead-last in most heats, but you can’t say they didn’t have the coolest cars. We rallied for a new category in next year’s event–coolest car– but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

As usual, as father and official car builder, I put things off until the last minute and then the night before the big race, we all cranked out our most creative creations. Patrick decided to model his car after his favorite Christmas present this year–the WII, or at least the remote from the famous gaming console. Emily got on board quickly with the idea to race a miniature coffin complete with a skeleton driver. Her non-aerodynamic attempt at a Pinewood Derby car was actually constructed of styrofoam and her recycled car from last year. Victor dropped by and helped with the inspiration as well as the assembly of this year’s Halloween themed entry.
