We’ve enjoyed Serene Lakes for many years. We built a cabin there on the lake in 2000. Serene Lakes days is a two-day celebration that brings hundreds of families together to participate in the events, soak up the sun and eat the AWESOME barbecued hot dogs. Lisa and her family have been participating since 1968 when her father Lester built their first cabin there. This video is a small sample of why we consider Serenites our second family. This is Serene Lakes Days 2015.

Consult the cycling rulebook! Rooky marks are grease marks on a cyclist’s leg from the chain or chainring. Rooky marks are…well, for rookys. They are generally frowned upon by seasoned cyclists. Some of us have even developed a point system for marks that are on other parts of the body. The higher the marks, the more points awarded. As in golf, low score wins. Now here’s the question: Is it more, or less rooky mark points if it draws blood?

A well deserved break from our bike ride today: In all my years coming to Tahoe, I think this is my first time in Donner Lake. Patrick’s too. First impressions? It was cold, but pleasant after our ride. The bottom was way too rocky to even walk at all. I’ll take Serene Lakes any day.

Don’t think we’ll eat at the Sunflower Caffe in Sonoma Valley again: $18 for a silver dollar sized hamburger with a fist size salad on the side! (And Lisa and I split it!) It was on the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show, but for the life of me I don’t know why.

My baby is moving on to high school! We love and are proud of all your accomplishments!
