More somber memorials

I wouldn’t have missed this. Despite the cold and rain, we took our rental car to our last stop in D.C., Arlington National Cemetery. It was a somber experience visiting the grave of President Kennedy and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The cracks of our vacation, those moments between excited glee and fits of laughter seem to be filled with somber memories. In DC we walked past Ford’s Theater where President Lincoln was shot and visited the National Holocaust Memorial Museum. The quote of the day from a cute little four-year-old girl to her father at the Holocause Museum: “Are there any happy parts to this museum?”
But these experiences will lead to long-time memories and are good history lesson for Patrick and Emily. We wouldn’t have missed them.
