It was time… time to make another major life change. For Christmas, we brought home a new addition to the family. Introducing Ferris, the Boston Terrier. We actually brought him home and surprised the kids on December 26th. He was 8 weeks old. He weighed just 3 pounds on his first vet visit but was quite healthy. We found out later that his birthday is October 25th (we’ll refer back here to remember at some point in the future.)

We debated for several days over what to name him, with other family members chiming in. Often the conversation grew heated.

Here is the short list of names that we voted on:

Dobie (Lisa, Emily and Patrick voted as their number one choice), Hobbs (Jody liked), Petey, Soda (Steve voted as number one choice due to its ties to Soda Springs. There are already too many dogs up there named Donner, and Dulzura just wasn’t going to cut it.), Tank (Sara liked), Mogli, Balou (spelling?), Sully (Steve, Lisa, Patrick and Kaitlyn all voted it in their top three choices) AND…Ferris (Steve, Emily and Patrick originally voted this in their top three and Lisa, feeling that the dog needed some name, eventually conceded.)

Apollo (One of Emily and Patrick’s top threes.)
Leo (Emily and Patrick’s top threes.)
Pluto (Which I liked because he was so tiny he’s really more of a sub-dog, much like the former planet, Pluto.)
