Archiving the archives
April 28th, 2008 · Leave a Comment
If it’s possible to archive archives, this is what I’ve done here. Bringing forward stories from my old archives page (which will slowly shrink and eventually dissapear once all the stories are here,) I’ve updated some photos, corrected some typo’s and linked to the

Turks and Caicos, Day 6: A Fantastic Day Before Saying Goodbye
February 23rd, 2008 · Leave a Comment
What an incredible day we had today! Two last-minute dives were an unexpected treat. Last night at dinner I realized that our flight was more than 24 hours away and I could dive again today. As for Lisa, she was dived out. Too bad: she missed a doozy.
As Lisa and the kids slept, Jojo the dolphin, a local regular, paid a surprise visit to

Not since college days has the enthusiasm of an election whelmed me as did the recent U. S. primaries. Some of my Kiwanis pals and I worked at a polling place.

Tom McClelland Brags About Theta Chi Fraternity Reunion
January 4th, 2008 · Leave a Comment
In September of 2007, Tom McCelland was one of four pals who organized a Theta Chi Fraternity Reunion (San Jose State University). The 3-day gathering was a huge success. His Gamma Xi chapter had a big turnout, considering they represented college men from the 50s and 60s.
More than a hundred brothers turned out for the …

HAPPY 76TH TO NORMA SUE!
May 4th, 2007 · 1 Comment
To my Favorite Sister:
I procrastinated too long. No b-day card this year. Doesn’t mean I don’t remember. Our birth dates being exactly 18 months apart, I can never forget.
So…
HAPPY 76TH TO NORMA SUE
There…I feel better.
I had a sixth grade sub assignment today and it went swimingly compared to 7th grade a week earlier. Go figure. I worked 6 days in this pay period, good for

Plannning a fraternity reunion
February 10th, 2007 · Leave a Comment
I am Tom McClelland, and I have met sporadically with brothers of Theta Chi at what we called mini-reunions. We were students at San Jose State College (now university) in the 1950s. We have had ten of these meetings, groups no bigger than 30 brothers, throughout Northern California—and througout the years. In fact, I hosted two of them. At last summer's gathering in Fremont, CA, a guy named Vern Perry started promoting the

Review of Name Rank and Serial Number
September 9th, 2006 · Leave a Comment
I got an encouraging letter from fraternity brother Vernon Perry who lives in MA. He read the book and wants to send it to his son at Portland newspaper:
TOM:
Just completed your dad’s memoirs. To me, a strking story of a young, American man during a crisis in America. There is no pumped up hero here, just a man who

POW and POW book get page on Moosburg Online
January 29th, 2006 · Leave a Comment
James P. McClelland got his own page on the thorough website Moosburg Online. The site also plugs the book Name Rank and Serial Number the POW story written by James and edited by J. Thomas McClelland. The copy on the webpage was also written by Tom and includes excerpts from the book. Tom sells the book more for a legacy than for profit, but enjoys doing it.
I have been giving a short talk on my Dad’s experiences at various service clubs in our area. I have a bigger Vet’s Club as an audience scheduled for May 4th. I sell a few books and enjoy the time.
