Hello Mutha, Hello Fatha. Greetings from Camp Hiawatha

Emily’s gone away to a 4-day summer camp with the Girl Scouts near Calaveras Big Tree. Here’s the email-letter she sent home. Before she left home, Emily made Lisa and I both write her a note and then kiss the paper below the note in a circle. This is the “paper” that she refers to (and that she’s holding in the photo. Click the letter here to see her full version. And click the photo above to see a larger version too.

One of the emails I sent her:
Hi, Em!
Just wanted to let you know we painted your room and got a renter to stay in there while you’re gone. Nooooo, kidding! I painted a bit around your door is all.
We FINALLY saw a few pictures of you online. It looks just like I remember camp…dirt everywhere. It does look like you’re having a good time though.
I read your email to Mommy. In fact I put it on McClellandfamily.com. I hope that’s okay. I can take it down if you want me to. It was sweet.
I miss you like crazy. I keep expecting you to come running down the hallway to ask me if you can play with Taylor or something. And then you’re just not there. It’s so weird.
Well, I have to go for now. Just wanted to let you know that I miss you and love you. And I can’t wait to see you on Monday.
Thinking of you,
Daddy

Hey Babe!
The weekend’s over and I’m back to work (yesterday as you read this.) Looking forward to getting you home.
Glad to hear you got your favorite horse. Of course I remember him. He was a pretty cool color. Sounds like you’re enjoying yourself.
Patrick ended up going camping with Mike and Jody. It was so quiet here this weekend. Mommy and I just worked on the house and sat around.
Britney called for you tonight (Sunday). She needs her password for Webkinz. I told her you’d call her Monday.
What is that crazy sound all weekend coming from the back of my car? Something’s rolling around back there. Oh, look. It’s a batter charger and 4 batteries. = ) Bummer that you only took 2 pictures. Lucky that you got two. The CHARGED batteries are the ones in my car!
Looks like I’ll be picking you up Monday. I can’t wait. I hope you’ll have lots of stories to tell. Make sure you get your friends’ email addresses and/or phone numbers so you can stay in touch.
See you tomorrow (today for you.) I love you.
Love,
Daddy
