Guy’s Camp Trip 2005

Steve joined Mike Wassermann and Larry Zinky for the guys’ camp trip–a weekend trip to Loon Lake with no wives and no kids. “We just enjoy getting together with the guys,” said Larry. “It’s not that we have anything against our kids or wives.”
After a weekend of relaxation and fantastic camp-cooked meals, the guys think the trip will be remembered for the long drive on the first day.
Our plans to camp at Loon were quickly changed when the forest service employee told us that the whole area was closed,” explained Steve. “We ended up driving around for hours including quite a few miles of off-road driving looking for another camp spot.” The group was plagued by out-of-date maps, bad information, and perhaps a sour sense of direction before finally finding a spot right at the original destination, Loon Lake. “What the heck, it was fun,” said Mike just before dark. Larry added sarcastically, “Yeah, I’m glad we listened to the forest service lacky.”

circle purge:1) a group celebration of a good meal by manual evacuation of the stomach’s contents, usually done in a circle, as a means to prepare for the next meal. 2) a cleansing technique. Note: the circle purge is not to be confused with bolemia, anorexia or any other food-related disorders as the circle purge is used as a means to ensure consumption of all purchased foods and beverages within a fixed period of time. Larry’s motto while camping? “Safety First” The “Caution” sign is a staple at all Zinky camp functions.
No shortage of food or drink It may be that food just tastes better when you’re camping or perhaps that 3 guys, when pressed, can put together a culinary camp feast, but one thing’s for sure: this group ate like kings all weekend.
Mike shows off the first night’s barbecued steak for three.
